The Great Town of Snyder
The town of Snyder is located in the lower part of the Southwestern Tablelands in Scurry County, Texas. Snyder was named for the buffalo hunter and merchant William Henry Snyder, who in 1878 built a trading post on Deep Creek. Paying homage to the town’s beginnings as a buffalo-trading post is a statue of an albino buffalo located on Scurry County Courthouse grounds. The town is located along Deep Creek, a tributary to the Colorado River of Texas.
