Nitrofill Near You

What is Nitrofill and Should I get it?

Nitrofill is the practice of inflating your tires with nitrogen rather than compressed air. Nitrogen or N2 is a dry inert gas used as a product to inflate tires. When most people think of nitrogen, they think of the liquid form which has a temperature of about -320Fahrenheit. It’s so cold it can freeze things solid in seconds and make them extremely brittle. It is often used in science labs to freeze materials and make them easy to pulverize into powder. Often people will also think of nitrogen as a necessary component for fertile soil so that plants can grow healthy and strong; it is key to quality soil for plant growth. What many may not know is that nitrogen is found in the air we breathe. Oxygen makes up only about 21 percent of breathable air and nitrogen makes up about 78 percent.

Why is Nitrogen Better for Your Tires?

Unlike the compressed air you use when you air up your tires, nitrogen is less prone to expansion. Compressed air on the other hand is composed of breathable air in the same concentration as the air we typically breathe. Compressed air, like breathable air, contains moisture, and therein lies the problem. Moisture rapidly expands when heated and always in an unpredictable way. Nitrogen is more stable, and it is a dry gas which means less expansion when heated that assures more consistent pressure increasing at operating temperatures due to the lack of moisture. Nitrogen is 74% more effective in maintaining proper tire pressure.
Happy Drivers

Why is Proper Tire inflation Important?

You have a lot riding on your tires as you rely on your vehicle to get where you need to go. It’s how most of us get to work, its how we get our kids to school if they do not ride a bus, it is how most of us get groceries for our homes, it is also how we go on vacation, get to the homes of friends and family, go out on dates, go to the movies, the gym, and how we live our lives in general. Our mobility is important and when you have poorly inflated tires, it can be a cause for accidents, and it costs you additional money in gas.
  • 25% of vehicles on the road have at least ¼ of their tires severely underinflated.
  • If a tire is not properly inflated, gas mileage is reduced by 3 percent per every single psi reduction in pressure.
  • About 71 percent of all drivers on the road fail to properly check and inflate their tires.
  • If your tires are not properly inflated, you are at a higher risk of flat tires, blowouts, and loss of tread from your tire.
  • 1 in 4 cars have at least one tire that is significantly underinflated
  • Under-inflated tires lower gas mileage by 0.3% for every PSI drop in pressure
  • Only 19% of consumers properly check and inflate their tires
  • Improperly inflated tires can lead to a flat tire, blowout, or the tread coming off your tire
